My approach is direct, honest, and results-focused - I don't sell quick fixes or drag things out. Real improvement takes time and daily practice, but if you're serious and put in the work, you'll develop a clearer, more natural sound. What students say:"Andrew is an exceptional pronunciation tutor. His lessons are always engaging, well-structured, and supported by very clear explanations and examples. What impressed me the most is his deep understanding of how pronunciation actually works. As someone who works in the audio field, I found some of his techniques fascinating - especially the way he applies concepts like vocal formants analysis to accent training. I never imagined these ideas could be used for learning pronunciation. Andrew is also extremely well prepared to work with students whose first language is Slavic. He often explains English sounds by comparing them with sounds from my first language, which makes the process both intuitive and very effective. I also appreciate how disciplined and organized he is. After every lesson I receive detailed feedback and can easily review my earlier homework. I feel incredibly lucky to have found such a knowledgeable and dedicated teacher. I highly recommend Andrew to anyone serious about improving their pronunciation." - Andrey, Sound Director"I wish I had started lessons with Andrew much earlier - it would have saved me time and helped me avoid confusion and misunderstandings. His approach is exactly what I needed: clear, structured, and supportive. He explains things in a simple, practical way, especially pronunciation. I'm impressed by how he finds similar sounds from my native language and helps me notice small pronunciation differences that make a huge difference in how I sound and how well I'm understood. He's always well-prepared, and I get the most out of every lesson. The personalised materials and guidance between sessions really help. I'm enjoying the process and can feel the improvement. Highly recommended." - Krzysztof, IT EngineerReady to sound clearer and more confident?Book a trial lesson. About

How I became a pronunciation specialistI didn't set out to become a pronunciation specialist. For years, I taught general English in language schools and universities - Paraguay, Peru, the UK - where pronunciation was barely touched on. We skipped over it in favour of grammar, vocabulary, and test prep. I even skipped the pronunciation pages in textbooks because I thought, "Ah, it's not that important."Then one day, I stumbled across a video by Adrian Underhill demonstrating his Sound Foundations Chart. I was blown away. I bought his book, started self-studying, and fell down the pronunciation rabbit hole. I became obsessed - learning phonetics, IPA, sound systems, vowel formants (yes, I can analyse recordings and extract acoustic data). I wanted to be the best online pronunciation tutor on the platform, and I was confident I was.But something was missing. I could build awareness, but I couldn't actually change people's speech. That's when I found Jessica Kijowski and The Accent Channel. I took her Accent Specialist Coaching Course in 2024, and everything clicked. I finally had a systematic approach to accent modification - not just teaching sounds, but reshaping speech patterns, building self-correction skills, and creating lasting change.I've been teaching online since 2016, with over 5,000 hours of one-to-one coaching on italki and Preply. I've worked with audio professionals, sound directors, paralegals, economists, teachers, engineers - people who need to be heard clearly in high-stakes situations. And I've developed techniques I know other teachers don't use: freestyle rap drills for sound practice, Audacity analysis for intonation work, personalised lesson documents and audios after every session.

Why I do this the way I doBefore teaching, I spent years in office jobs - debt collection, call centres, accounts, customer service. I was sacked from British Gas for focusing too much on customers and not enough on company targets. Best thing that ever happened to me. It taught me that I care more about people than metrics. That attitude carried over into teaching. I go the extra mile. I create personalised materials, detailed feedback, custom practice audios. I spend hours outside lessons refining techniques, innovating, making things better. Some teachers copy-paste one-sentence feedback after every lesson. I write paragraphs. It's just how I'm wired.I'm also direct and honest. If something will take time, I'll tell you. If you're not practising, I'll call you out. I'm a bit OCD about details - I catch mistakes other teachers miss, I hear things you don't hear yet, I correct a lot (maybe too much, but serious students appreciate it). I don't sell quick fixes or drag things out. Real improvement takes months, daily practice, and commitment. But if you're serious and put in the work, you'll see results.I'm also a Spanish speaker (C1 level), and my pronunciation in Spanish is shit. People ask me to repeat myself. I get blank stares. I know exactly how my students feel. I need a coach like me.

Credentials & experienceI'm CELTA qualified (Pass B, 2014) and a Certified Accent Specialist trained by Jessica Kijowski from The Accent Channel (2024). I've taught for 16 years - in Paraguay, Peru, the UK, and online since 2016. I've coached 5,000+ hours on italki and Preply, working with students from every language background imaginable.I have an exceptional ear for pronunciation (ear-trained myself), deep knowledge of phonetics and IPA, and I've analysed dozens of sound systems so I can explain English sounds by comparing them to your native language. I also bring 15+ years of customer service experience from my office days, which means I genuinely care about your progress, respond quickly, and treat you like a person, not a number.

A bit about meOutside teaching, I'm a Leeds United fan (a weekly source of joy and stress), a Spanish speaker, a former DJ from the UK rave scene, and a Breaking Bad superfan. I love food, baking when I get the chance, and I'm obsessed with zombies (don't ask). I grew up breakdancing on street corners with a boombox and a sheet of lino. I lived in Peru, Ecuador, and Paraguay, and I still love Latin music - reggaeton, salsa, Spanish hip-hop.I don't travel as much anymore - I'm focused on my little family and my work. My work is my hobby these days (sad but true). I love what I do, and I want to help you sound clearer, more confident, and more like yourself in English.

What is British pronunciation coaching?British pronunciation coaching is about helping you sound clearer and more natural when interacting with British native speakers - whether you're living in the UK, planning to move there, or working with British colleagues from abroad. Most people call it "accent reduction." I call it accent addition. We're not erasing your accent - it's part of who you are. We're adding clarity and naturalness so you're easily understood in work, academic, and social situations. My approach focuses on three things: sounds (vowels, consonants, and the specific sounds unique to British English), prosody (rhythm, stress, intonation, connected speech), and self-correction skills (learning to hear your own mistakes and fix them in real time). This isn't about sounding "native" or "proper." It's about being clearly understood and feeling confident when you speak.

Who's this for? This is for non-native English speakers (B2+ level) who interact regularly with British native speakers. That could be professionals in meetings and presentations, students at UK universities, or anyone living in the UK who wants to feel more confident and understood in everyday conversations. This works if you're willing to practise daily (10-15 minutes), see this as a long-term process, and want real, lasting improvement - not a quick fix. This isn't for you if you want to "sound like a native" in a few weeks, need American English, only interact with other non-native speakers, or you're below B2 level.

How does it work?I use Standard Southern British English (SSBE) as the accent model. It's widely understood, and it's an effective model for clear communication. Here's what happens in sessions:Session 1: I assess your speech (reading + spontaneous speech sample), identify your biggest pronunciation issues, and assign priorities for the best results.Sessions 2-10 (or 12): We work on specific sounds and prosody step by step. You'll learn to make sounds correctly (positioning, technique), hear the difference between English and non-English sounds (listening discrimination), and self-correct in real time. I create personalised materials after every lesson - audio recordings, correction docs, homework tasks. After 10-12 sessions: Most students have solid awareness, self-correction skills, and a complete toolkit to keep improving independently. Some students continue with maintenance sessions (conversation practice, self-correction refinement, revisiting tricky areas, working on real-life needs like presentations or interviews).

What you'll get (and what you won't)Real improvement takes time. Months, not weeks. And daily practice (10-15 minutes). This is like learning to speak again - just as it took time to acquire your accent as a child, it takes time to add a new one as an adult. After 10-12 sessions, you'll have:- Awareness of your pronunciation patterns
- A developed ear (you can hear right vs wrong, you can hear your own mistakes)
- Self-correction skills (catch mistakes in real time, fix them on the spot)
- A toolkit to keep improving independently
You might start to get compliments. You'll probably feel more confident. But massive changes? Not yet. After 20-30+ sessions (with daily practice), you'll see real changes:- Sounding more natural
- Being easily understood
- Feeling confident in any situation
My goal is to get you "on your bike" - give you the skills and awareness to keep improving on your own. You can continue with maintenance sessions if you want ongoing support, but you won't need me forever. Pronunciation work is lifelong, and the best progress happens when you're working independently between sessions.
